REFLEX Analytical offers circular evacuable pellet die assemblies with an extraordinary 75mm die chamber height to permit the convenient fabrication of thick sample pellets. After installing each 5.50mm thick die anvil and locating the die plunger 10mm into the die chamber, there is 54mm available between each die anvil for the powdered sample matrix to be compressed to yield a sample pellet. Each die is precision manufactured from hardened 440C stainless steel and includes a main body with a vacuum attachment, base, (2) polished anvils, plunger, (2) vacuum o-rings, extractor ring and operating instructions. The evacuable design feature with the use of a small lab oil-less vacuum pump
permits easy installation of anvils and plunger without the vacuum resistance normally associated with non-evacuable dies. The dies are commonly used with our series of laboratory presses
Tungsten carbide anvils are optional. Typically, tungsten carbide anvils are preferred when working with hard mineral like or ceramic type materials. Notably, the tungsten carbide transverse rupture strength is 500,000 psi and hardened 440C stainless steel is 100,000 psi. Therefore theoretically, tungsten carbide offers 5x the compression strength when compared to hardened 440C stainless steel.
