In response to requests offered by the FTIR spectroscopy community, the Cannabis CBD Oil Analyzer also known as the Pearl Analyzer has become a cost effective development that is used to qualify and quantify CBD used in oils, creams, ointments and other cosmetics, as well as beverages and juices.
Cannabidiol, commonly referenced as CBD is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant. CBD oil is formulated by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then diluting it with an oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. Read this brief
CBD Oil Application Note to appreciate the results that can be achieved using this accessory.
The Cannabis CBD Oil Analyzer is truly a brilliant analytical accessory for the cannabis industry. No sample preparation is required. Analysis is fast and simple.

FTIR spectroscopy is becoming the analytical method of choice for cannabis as the use of spectroscopic analysis can be undertaken by an expert or nonspecialist and is significantly faster compared to other analytical techniques such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry.
For those who are new to cannabis analysis, be advised that identifying and quantifying are different. The majority of analytical cannabis investigations is associated with identification which is common when referring to the associated spectral peaks. For quantification there needs to be analytical standards in the range required for the cannabinoids and common contaminants found in hemp and cannabis, including DEA controlled substances such as CBD and THC, pesticide residues, residual solvents, heavy metals, terpenes, pyrethroids, chlorinated hydrocarbons, carbamates and organophosphates. Refer to the relevant
Certified Reference Materials and when compared to the spectra you generate from your samples, you can establish a pass or fail result. If your FTIR instrument has a Partial Least Squares PLS Quantification program then this is a common model that can used for quantification. The data can be further confirmed by an independent lab if third party verification is required.
It is important to note this accessory is used in conjunction with an FTIR instrument. The analyzer is inserted with the appropriate baseplate for the instrument within the instrument's sample compartment. When ordering, please indicate the FTIR instrument make and model you possess. Consider using the ZnSe Wedged 25 micron and 100 micron CBD Analysis Cell with the Cannabis CBD Analyzer. ZnSe will operate over a much broader infrared spectral range.
