Tissue Cell Pulverizer
REFLEX Analytical's ingenuity and engineering continues to develop new products for the clinical and laboratory communities. Its patent pending Three in One, Tissue Cell Pulverizer permits converting a small pulverizer into either a medium or large pulverizer. You no longer have to purchase three or more different pulverizers when one pulverizer is now available to offer convenience and
flexibility. Simply using a small, medium or large pulverizer, you can interchange with the appropriate conversion base to adapt to your needs.
The Tissue Cell Pulverizer produces a fine powder typically from cryogenic samples although can be used for any sample requiring pulverization. Completely precision fabricated from a specialty grade 316 Stainless Steel, the chamber is a three piece design with a knurled and threaded base which incorporates a removable base plug for easy access to and permitting 100% removal of sample. The 7" long, weight loaded plunger has a knurled hand grip for ease of handling and its isolated linear travel distance to impact, generates pounding action comparable to a heavy hammer. Remaining conscious of the well being of our customers and the environment, the exposure and use of a toxic lead hammer for impact can be avoided.
When used in applications requiring cryo-pulverization, the Tissue Cell Pulverizer is exposed at a cryogenic temperature -190C within approximately 200ml of Liquid Nitrogen or -78.5C using a dry ice and Isopropyl Alcohol mixture (whichever is conveniently available and practical). In most cases, less than 10 grams of samples is pre-frozen and introduced in the pre-chilled pulverizer threaded base. A single hand ram stroke with the heavy duty plunger and the driving force created, provides for sufficient impact to generate fine powdered particles. For smaller particle size, additional ram strokes can be applied. The Tissue Cell Pulverizer is effectively used to prepare human, animal and plant tissues (including hair, nails, bone, teeth, fresh tissue, etc.) for cell disruption, DNA and RNA extraction and samples requiring freeze fracturing. All pulverizer components can be easily cleaned and autoclaved for subsequent extraction or homogenization without the risk of cross contamination.

The Tissue Cell Pulverizer is available in three interchangeable sizes (small, medium and large) depending upon the sample volume required. It's available individually or can be packaged with optional bases. Base conversion kits for the Tissue Cell Pulverizer can also be purchased separately. The exchange of bases allows adapting to application needs without having to purchase another pulverizer. For example, if using a Large Tissue Cell Pulverizer, simply unthread the large base and screw in either a small or medium base.
